Me:What is your favorite food in Taiwan?
Peter:favorite food? I need to think about it, it should be bubble tea
Me:Why?
Peter:Because bubble tea is very popular in Vietnam, a cup of bubble milk tea is very expensive, costing almost NT$200 per cup. In Taiwan, you can buy it for about NT$50, and it can be found everywhere.
Me:I got it, bubble tea is really a very common food in Taiwan. So where is your favorite place in Taiwan?
Peter:I think it should be Sun Moon Lake in Nantou
Me: Why Sun Moon Lake?
Peter: It's beautiful there and it makes me relax. I even introduced it to many my Vietnamese friends

Okinawa is a beautiful island located in the southern part of Japan, known for its stunning beaches, rich culture, and delicious food. We have a unique cuisine influenced by both Japanese and Okinawan traditions, featuring fresh seafood like tuna, octopus, and sea grapes, as well as local specialties such as Okinawa soba noodles, Pork tamago onigiri, and bitter melon dishes. Our island is also famous for its warm climate, welcoming people, and vibrant festivals, making it a popular destination for tourists.


Then I introduced my hometown of Da Jia, and we went to my high school to take a graduation photo .By the way, we took her on a trip to DaJia, and by the way, we went around the temple and ate a lot of delicious food like taro balls and mung bean paste.This trip made her very happy.

1.Opinions about Taiwan as a country：
Taiwan is a civilized country that is also very friendly to foreigners. As a Vietnamese student who has lived in Taiwan for almost 5 years, I feel that Taiwan is not only very developed, but the standard of living for its people is also very high. The variety of food is abundant, from night markets to restaurants, offering a wide selection. If you are a food lover, Taiwan is definitely a country you shouldn't miss.


2.Introduction to the country of Vietnam：
Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country. People used to think Southeast Asia was unsafe, but that's changed. Now, Vietnam is seeing a lot more tourists, including many from Taiwan. In Vietnam, not only is accommodation cheap, but there's also a wide variety of street food to try. Though it might not compare to Taiwan, our street food is definitely worth tasting.

This is my friend from Korea and her name is 유지민 . Our conversation is about Korea food.Her favorite cuisine is ginseng chicken soup. Ginseng, red dates, goji berry, ginger and chicken are the necerrsay elements in ginseng chicken soup. This cuisine incorporates the chicken and some Chinese medicine and gradually evolve into this comtenporary one! For some, the ginseng chicken soup has beome an acquired taste when travling to Korea.
And we also talk about K-pop culture, Seventeen is her “pick”. K-pop culture is one of popular music today. It’s becoming increasingly influential. With the trend of kpop, Korean culture also affects the world.

1.What do you think are the distinctive features of Taiwan.
He thinks Taiwan’s characteristic is the Mazu International Festival. In his country, Vietnam. Haven't seen a lot of activity in the religion like that. Mazu International Festival is famous as the starting point for a 340-km walk. That is so great and so exciting. So, he will join the Mazu International Festival with his friend in the next year.
2.What do you think is unique about your country.
I would like to talk about Ho Chi Minh City maybe like Taipei City, which is in the south of Vietnam. I am proud of is my country’s people. We are so nice and kind, and we are so happy to show you around. So, when you come to Vietnam, we will show you a good time. No matter where you come from, you will feel at home.

Xu: How many years have you been married in Taiwan?
Chun: About 25 years.
Xu: ㄢDid you know that ancestor worship in Taiwan requires cooking a variety of dishes, and the dishes served to worship ancestors must not be repeated?
Chun: This is different from Vietnam. The portions of each dish in Vietnam are large, and you can put two bowls of the same thing on the table.
Xu: Taiwanese worshipers pay more attention to rich dishes.

Classmate：One of the most delicious foods in Taiwan that I rarely encounter in Japan is stinky tofu.I think I like it.

A:The most special cuisine culture is 東泉. It’s a brand of chili sauce. We add it in everything like meat dumplings, fried dumpling, fried noodles, baked wheat cake. Many people think we eat fried noodles and pigs blood soup in mornings but my family and I eat them as lunch or dinner. Certainly, have 東泉 on the fried noodles.
B:I like to eat cicada pupa and hotteok when I live in Korea. Those’re snacks in traditional market. Hotteok is famous in the world because of Squid Game. Foreigner won’t eat cicada pupa when they visit Korea. I also have a soft spot for patjuk, porridge of Korea cuisine. We usually have it in winter.

Me：Have you heard of the famous sun cake from Taichung?
Katherine：I haven’t heard of that one.

Me：Sun cake is a round-shaped pastry with a sweet filling, mainly made of maltose, and is usually eaten with tea. It’s a traditional snack from Taichung City. If you’re interested in making sun cakes, you can visit the Taichung Sun Cake Museum. They have more information about sun cakes, and you can even sign up to make them! Katherine：That’s cool! You can actually make sun cakes by hand.

Me：Yes, and there’s another delicacy called Moroheiya. It’s a specialty plant from central Taichung, the tender shoots of the jute plant. Jute is used to make ropes and burlap bags. The Moroheiya soup has a thick consistency due to starch, it’s refreshing and can be served hot or cold, sweet or savory. The process of removing the bitterness is quite troublesome, involving manual stem removal and complex kneading. My grandmother often cooks this green soup, adding sweet potatoes to it. The soup tastes sweet and refreshing. I like to chill it and drink it cold, especially in the summer, as it’s very cooling.

Katherine：This soup sounds unique, being both a sweet and savory option. I would like to try it if I get the chance.

Her name is rachel. She comes from Malaysia and we met in rock climbing class. In class,we will discuss how to climb to the highest place. After class, we will talk about life in Taiwan. For example, what are the differences between the driving license tests in the two countries? It’s interesting. She said there wasn't much difference. And she will choose to continue working and living in Taiwan in the future. At the same time, she also shared with me that she misses the “Pan Mee” in Malaysia very much.
