Course Description
(English Version)
|
|||||||||
The
main goal of this course is to train students to communicate fluently in
English with confidence, clarity and ease in any given situation. The course
is designed to be highly interactive. Students will be involved in
collaborative projects and frequently use the microphone when addressing the
class. The expectation is that by the end of the course all participants will
project their voices, annunciate clearly, have consistent eye contact with
their audiences, demonstrate good posture, conduct research responsibly, and
effectively write and deliver speeches. Therefore, course participants will
be encouraged throughout the year to constantly strive to improve their oral
presentation skills.
In addition, the course professor will work toward providing a non-threatening atmosphere where students will feel free to experiment with the English language and make informative mistakes. In order to meet the course goals, students are expected to attend every class, ask for help when they need it, hand work in on time, make a conscious effort to work harmoniously with classmates and devote their energy to using English even after they leave the classroom each week. Lastly, it may be helpful for those pondering whether to enroll in this course to know that students who have taken it in the past have said that it is very demanding but worthwhile. This course will provide students with ample opportunities to explore interesting topics, using every day English, as well as a great deal of activities designed to help them become great public speakers. Furthermore, they will have homework every week to ensure that their skills are sharpened and that they are prepared for every class. In this course, students are the most important subject. Therefore, the content of the course will be continuously revised based on students’ needs and interests. The textbooks that will be used are simply helpful tools and not the main focus of the course. |
