Popsicles Show Pollution in Taiwan's Water/ 陳雅琳

Popsicles Show Pollution in Taiwan's Water

Three Taiwanese students created special Popsicles this past summer. Each Popsicle was made of polluted water from Taiwan’s river and lakes. The idea was to show how dirty the water in Taiwan is these day. The project won the Young Pin Design Award and was on display at Taipei World Trade Center.

The Raven/ 孫名

First, the speaker has a fear of spooky atmosphere. When he was napping, someone tap at his door but nothing more. And the curtains were filled him with fantastic terrors he never felt before. Second, he was as mad as hell because of the Raven. ‘’Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door’’, he shrieked and upstarting. In the end, the speaker was so sad. He whispers the word, ‘’Lenore’’, but nothing more. The speaker felt disappointed because of Lenore.

The Raven/ 何芝寧

He tries to calm himself down, telling himself that "tis some visitor".He's grieving for a lost woman, someone named Lenore who has left him alone. As he listens something strange, he begins to really nervous and his heart starts to beat faster. The speaker murmured the word Lenore, even the darkness, reminds him of his love. The raven appeared, speaker really gets into this feeling of amusement, talking to the raven as if it were some noble person. The speaker is a little surprised to hear this bird talk.He is sure that the bird will disappear by tomorrow, leaving him alone. He imagines the bird had a depressed owner, whose life was such terrible that all he could say was "Nevermore." He sits and thinks, remembers that Lenore will never sit on this cushion again, and she's really gone forever. The speaker starts to yelling at the bird, calling him a "Prophet" and a "thing of evil". In fact, all he really wants is a little bit of hope and some comfort. Finally, he doesn't want to see the raven again, he thinks his soul never be rescued because of the shadow of the raven.

The Raven/ 張晏禎

First, the speaker heard someone rapping at his door and looked each separate dying ember like ghost and heard uncertain rustling of each purple curtain. Therefore, he opened the door, there was darkness and nothing. Those made him feel thrilled and spooky. But he didn’t close the door immediately. He whispered “Lenore!” and looked forward to seeing her. It was still nothing. Afterwards, he back into the house, hearing a tapping louder than before. He opened the shutter, seeing a stately Raven. He talked something to the Raven. But the Raven just said “Nevermore.” The speaker was disappointed. When he asked about Lenore and the Raven still said “Nevermore.” He felt heartbroken and hated the Raven very much.

The Raven/ 賴昱辰

In first section, once upon a midnight dreary, while Poe nodded, there came a tapping and he thought it's some visitors. I think at that moment he felt scared. And in second section, it was in the bleak December and Poe has sorrow for the lost Lenore. In third section, Poe felt thrilled with fantastic terrors what he never felt before. In fourth section, Poe's soul grew stronger, he was not hesitating then no longer. In fifth section, Poe deep into that darkness peering and he felt fearing and he was obsessed with Lenore. In sixth section, he sound a tapping louder than before and he told himself it was the wind and nothing more, so he might felt more scared than before. In eighth section, he felt ghastly and grim when Raven wandering from the nightly shore. In tenth section, he felt hopeless. In twelfth section, when the Raven croaking, Poe might feel grim and ghastly. In fifth section, Poe felt alone. In seventeenth section, Poe felt angry. And in eighteenth section, I think his feeling is in tense and almost frantic. It carefully tracks the step from a state of nervousness to total psychological breakdown.

The Raven/ 廖筱瑄

Psychological process of the speaker is from scare to angry. When he heard some one raping his door, he was scared but he tell himself it's nothing to calm himself down. But he knew it's the bird and it can answer his question with "nevermore", he feels a little surprised. And in the end he asks something about his lover, but he still gets "nevermore" from the bird. It's not the answer he wants, so he is angry and upset.

The Raven/ 劉渝欣

The speaker was so focus on what he's doing, then a sound came in, he felt scared first, then he opened the door. Suddenly he thought, maybe it's his "Lenore", so he started felt sorrow about the lost. After, he found out the sound was made by a saint raven, then he started to gave his mind to the raven and thought that the raven could told his feeling. As he had bad feedback from the raven, he felt mad with the raven(and the feeling from his heart was telling him), his mood in this writing was from nervousness to totally psychological breakdown.

The Raven/ 黃鈺仰

The speaker was tired and stayed alone.
He noticed that someone kept tapping his door.
He told himself there was nothing, and he felt sad because his lover died.
He felt scared and fear.
When he saw the raven, he thought it was a demon.
He imagined that raven was laughing at him and told him that you won't see your lover again.
In the end, the speaker felt mad and sad......
He shouted to the raven and make it leave
The raven ignored him.
The speaker still immersed in sadness.

The Raven/ 邱筱芸

The speaker is good at using gloomy words to create a macabre vision. Such as haunted, creepy, spooky, suspense. And step by step, until readers achieve psychological breakdown. The poem’s content full of sad, despair , death. And the raven always reply the same answer “ Nevermore”, just like remind the speaker that his lover and hope are gone forever. Until the end, the raven still says“Nevermore”

The Raven/ 董珍秀

In the middle of night, he’s tired and nodding his head. But when something tapped on the door he felt scared and comforted himself it’s nothing. But when he opened the door and found nothing, he was terrified. Then he saw a raven and realized it’s the raven which was tapping on the door. So, he talked to the raven and thought it was messenger sent by the God. He happily asked the raven how’s his wife and wanted to see her. But as the raven answering him with “Nevermore”, he got angry and wanted it to go. He thought it was here to steal the love between them. But he strongly claimed his love for her is internal and no one could separate them.

The Raven/ 柯定君

The speaker used an intense, almost frantic way to miss his lover, Lenore. At first he didn’t know who was tapping his chamber door, he felt a little bit scared, but he calmed himself down by thinking that it was just some visitor. Then he opened the door, there was nothing with the unbroken silence. He felt very fearing and doubting. He thought that was Lenore, but nobody there, only wind. He turned back into his chamber door with his burning soul. The rapping came again and it became louder than before. He flung his shutter, then, a “stately Raven” showed up. After that, whenever the speaker thought something hopeful, the Raven only replied “Nevermore.” The speaker was going to be insane by the raven because he couldn’t accept the truth that his lover, Lenore was passed away. At the end, the speaker thought that his soul should be lifted, but the raven still repeated “Nevermore.” I think the speaker was very upset in his thought. He couldn't recover from his sorrow.

The Raven/ 陳詩萱

① He felt nervous because of the rapping. He tried to calm himself
down.
②He felt lonely because he thought of Lenore.
③He was afraid of the strange sound from each curtain.
④He was obsessed with Lenore.
⑤He found it was raven which rapped his door. He felt relax and disappointed.
⑥He was marveled because the raven said“ nevermore”. He felt confused.
⑦He was scared that the raven would leave him just like Lenore.
⑧He was almost crazy because he hoped his Lenore was still alive.

Everything is going wrong!/ 陳雅琳

Everything is going wrong!

You forget to bring your pen on test day.You can only find things when you don't need them. When bad things happened to us more than usual, we notice them more easily. We notice them more easily. We explain these things by using Murphy's law. It says: If something can go wrong, it will go wrong.

How to take better notes/ 陳雅琳

How to take better notes

High school students study many different subjects. We can't remember everything, though. For this reason, it's important to take notes. Taking good notes doesn't mean writing down everything. You can just write down key words. This helps you to memorize the important details easier.

let go of the control

Man may think he is in control of everything, but actually according to our experience, man has no control of anything even the small things, let alone bigger things. Moreover, a little bit of discomfort in one part of the body makes the whole body uncomfortable. Little things may turn our whole world upside down; that is, a small thing can have a great impact on our life.

I feel. . . life is tough. The difficulties I face in my life comes from situations and little things out of my control, and frustration arises out of trying to control what I can't control.

The only thing I can do is this: let go of the control, and know that God is in control. God is our loving heavenly Father whose heart is tender toward His children, and I can give all my worries and cares to God, for He cares about me. . .

tongues

What comes out of our mouths is usually an indicator of what is in our hearts, or our mouths speak from that which fill our hearts. What fills our hearts reveal who we are. That is, what we say reveals who we are.

We cannot control our tongues, and we all stumble in what we say: we gossip, we complain, we exaggerate, we lie, we slander, we curse, and we say hurtful words.

It says in James "the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison" (3: 6-7).

Human beings may subdue animals, but no one can fully tame the tongue. If you have ever tried to battle with the temptation, you will know it is tough to bridle your tongues. The fact that we all stumble in what we say reveals that we are not perfect and our heart is impure, and the fact that it is tough to bridle our tongues reveals that we can do nothing to solve the problem of our impure hearts. We all know clearly that we cannot solve the problem of our tongues by mere will; that is, we cannot solve the problem of our impure hearts by mere will.

We all need help. Only the One who can purify our hearts and give us a new heart and a new life is able to assist us. Thus, only God can help us.

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 130

Sonnet 130
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun,
Coral is far more red, than her lips red,
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun:
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head:

I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks,
And in some perfumes is there more delight,
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.

I love to hear her speak, yet well I know,
That music hath a far more pleasing sound:
I grant I never saw a goddess go,
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.

And yet by heaven I think my love as rare,
As any she belied with false compare.

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116

Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments, love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.

O no, it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come,
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:

If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18

Sonnet 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Shakespeare’s Sonnet 1

Sonnet 1
From fairest creatures we desire increase,
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
But as the riper should by time decease,
His tender heir might bear his memory:

But thou, contracted to thine own bright eyes,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel.

Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And tender churl mak'st waste in niggarding:

Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

Annabel Lee/ Edgar Allan Poe

Annabel Lee
Edgar Allan Poe
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love—
I and my Annabel Lee—
With a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
