O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting (短暫的) I am! 5Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths(一手之寬), and my lifetime(一生) is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! 6Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing they are in turmoil(混亂); man heaps up(堆放) wealth (財富) and does not know who will gather!耶和華啊，求你叫我曉得我身之終！我的壽數幾何？叫我知道我的生命不長！你使我的年日窄如手掌；我一生的年數，在你面前如同無有。各人最穩妥的時候，真是全然虛幻。世人行動實係幻影。他們忙亂，真是枉然；積蓄財寶，不知將來有誰收取。
7“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.
主啊，如今我等什麼呢？我的指望在乎你！(詩篇39, 4-7節)
All men are vanity before God, and the only hope is in God.
