Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer 5
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake. 10
The only other sounds the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep, 15
And miles to go before I sleep.
A wall means the privacy. Somebody doesn't want to let others know what they are doing.

I think maybe the speaker is very lonely, he needs a friend who can share everything in his life, but people are just stay indifferent, so only he can rely on are his horse and nature.

But something warm and sweet try to make it much more easier, such as family and relationships. In the poem, village is the warm and sweet thing, but sometimes, it feel distant, far away from us.

回覆刪除This poem is simplicity itself. The speaker is stopping by some woods on a snowy evening. He takes in the lovely scene in near-silence, is tempted to stay longer, but acknowledges the pull of obligations and the considerable distance yet to be traveled before he or she can rest for the night.

But if I am the speaker, I think I will do the same thing just like the speaker. Although We might feel lonely, but we can just stand there to see the view by ourself. Maybe it's a special experience.

This poem is dark and lonely but it still show the lovely about woods. Sometimes, I just want to escape from the world to somewhere nobody knows me like deep in the woods. I think woods can make me feel comfortable and calm.
回覆刪除I think this poem is very dark as soon as I read the first stanza of this poem and the title. On a snowy evening outside alone should be dark, freezing, and lonely. The speaker only had his horse with him. He stood by the forest alone made himself felt more lonely and sad. Everyone should stay with family or stay at their house in a snowy evening and should be warm and safe.

I think he was crazy cause some bad things happened , like parent died , broke up or losed his job something like that , so he just want to run away from this world.

I think this poem is describe a lonely man and his tough life, the horse is his only friend, and is the only one who care about the speaker.

I think this poem has sadness, speaker was lonely no one can rely on only his horse can know about him. In this peom I feel the same feeling, sometimes I want to enjoy my world by myself, don't want other bother me. But world still working ,I can't addict in the image world.
