Mia:Hey mom, can I ask some question about your country?
Mom:Of course.
Mia:Do you ever go to Angkor Wat(吳哥窟)?
Mom:Yes, Didn't I take you there?
Mia:No, I hope you will take me there next time. I think it is a very historical and beautiful place. Angkor Wat is a huge water temple that has been hidden in the woods for many years.
Mom:Oh, how do you know more than me?
Mia:Because this is my report…… Mom,do you know about Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum?
Mom:I know, But I haven't been there, it's a horrible place for me.
Mia: Tuol Sleng was originally called Chao Ponhea Yat High School. Named after Cambodian King Bonya, the school was converted into a concentration camp and mass execution center by the Communist Party of Cambodia (Khmer Rouge) in 1975. The buildings were surrounded by barbed wire carrying high-voltage electricity, and classrooms were converted into cramped cells and torture chambers. To prevent prisoners from escaping, the windows were barred and wired. After the renovation, the area was renamed Security Prison 21 (S-21), referred to as S-21. The number 21 is its location.
Mom:Yes, it is the true history .
Mia: Is this an unbearable memory for Cambodia’s history?
Mom:Yes.
Mia:Ok,but last time I go to Cambodia is 8 years old, I forgot how delicious the food is.
Mom:Maybe we go to Cambodia this summer vacation, your grandparents miss you so much.
