Some New Understanding about Love/

Some New Understanding about Love

I still remember one day, in our writing class, our teacher asked us to write an essay named “What is Love?” I was confused. Since for a long time, I have not thought about this “love” word. Maybe I think I have already grown-up; I could not just like a children to talk about love in my everyday life. I should do something mature. But I still wrote something about love.

It’s hard to define the exact meaning of love. But from my perspective, I believe that you can feel you are loved by someone and you could love anyone else in this world. That’s the greatest thing in this entire world. Love is you are trusted by others. Trust is easy to say but difficult to do. You could say that you trust everyone, but in your innermost, you barely trust anyone. It is the most beautiful thing that you know there is someone that you could always depend on. That faith could give you the magic power to achieve everything. When you are alone, when you fail, when you are depressed, or when you are in the roughest moment of your life, as long as you believe that you are loved, you are trusted, it’s enough. At least for me, it’s enough. Love is simple and complex.

The Four Loves: Reflections/

The Four Loves: Reflections

Introduction
“God is love (11).” It was the first sentence and the key point in the introduction. First, it divided love into Gift-love and Need-love. Also, it talked about the differences of Gift-love and Need-love. For example, Need-love was more selfish than Gift-love. Then, it talked about God. It compared the demon with God. It seems that everything can’t break away God.

And I agree some sentences in the introduction. “We are born helpless (12).” I think it is right because we have to through others’ help to let us learn more, such as how to get along with others, how to try our best to help others, how to love, how to show our concern to someone and so on.

Also, “A tyrannous and gluttonous demand for affection can be a horrible thing (13)”. People are always greedy. When they get what they want, they will want to get more. It seems that it won’t have the day which people will feel satisfaction. Sometimes people will persist on something that is unnecessary and force other people to do it together. For me, it is a very horrible thing. It will not only damage the feeling between friends or family but also make other people feel antipathy to you.

The Four Loves: Reflections/

The Four Loves: Reflections

The word love consists of four parts in Greek literature, is storge (affection), philia (friendship), eros (sexual or romantic love), and agape (selfless love).By introducing love, C.S. Lewis, the author of The Four Loves, made a definition and an enlightenment by his experiences to give readers a much more comprehensibility about love. In the following paragraphs, I am going to discuss the context and share the experiences I have learned in The Four Loves.

Actually, there is a question before starting to talk about The Four Loves, and the question is that what do you think about love? Everyone has his or her own answer about it. About my answer, I think that love is to accompany with the particular persons I love and to have the basic living requirements with them. It is just my thought. However, after reading The Four Loves, I get a different feeling about the simple word, love.

What is love? I think love has many different kinds of types and forms. There are love between family, siblings, friends, and lovers. I think everyone has different definition about love. In my opinion, love can make people happy and also can make people painful. Love is like the sun. It is warm and bright. Love is like the thunder. It makes people feel scared and suffocating. Love is inevitable and we all need love in our life.

What Is Love? Before I read The Four Loves, teacher asked students to write down our own thoughts about Love. I think, Love is multifarious, and love is also hazardous. If people fall in love, he or she may feel happy, upset, angry, helpless and painful. Love is a verb, it means one pays for each other unconditionally. If one loves someone, he will do anything for him and forgive him. But love is also dangerous; if someone wants to ask for the payback, or he doesn’t want to accept the fact that the one he loved doesn’t love him, he may do something horrible. Love is a difficult lesson for human beings to learn how to be a rational lover. And after I receive my paper from teacher, she gave me some ideas; she considered the most dangerous thing in love is you can’t control your heart. Exactly, I agree, and after I read the books, I could understand more about love.

Before I read the masterpiece, The Four Loves, by C.S. Lewis, I began considering what love is. I continuously asked myself what is love. Eventually, I though it is difficult to define the meaning because everyone has a variety of ways to present or express their love. As far as I was concerned, it is important to concern about other people’s feeling and to have to be considerate to the others. Although I wouldn’t prefer to say something sweet to the person, I would help the person in action. For example, when the person is depressed or he faces some obstacles, I will give him my suggestions or listen to what he feels and give him a hug. I though giving someone supports is more significant than saying sweet. For me, when someone is willing to listen or to concern about me, I will feel toughed and I even may burst into tears.

The Four Loves: Reflections

When I was young, my parents took good care of me. They gave me everything I need. I didn’t need to worry about everything. According to the book named The Four Loves, this kind of love is called The Need-Love. My love to my parents is based on the need to survive. In other words, this love will fade away until I grow up because I totally have the ability to be on my own, and I don’t actually need my parents any more. But does it mean I will abandon my parents? Of course not! My love to my parents will turn out to be something bigger when I grow up and get more mature. I think it’s a kind of paying back my love to my parents. They treat me and raise me up nicely, and they ask nothing in return. As a good child of my parents, I will and I have to show my appreciation and love in return. So, the Need-Love is lasting, and it turns out to be something stronger.

Love/

Love

The true essence of being alive is to love and be loved. Love is simple but also complicated at the same time. It’s simple because it consists of only four letters but complicated since it contains nearly all kinds of complex feelings, such as happy, sad, hopeful and despairing. We, including all the creatures on the earth, live for love and die for love too. Love is the reason why everything exists in the world, red or blue. What’s love? It’s too hard to give an exact definition even though you are the cleverest person. In the dictionary, it says “love is the feeling that a person’s happiness is very important to you, and the way you show this feeling in your behavior towards them.” I agree with this viewpoint for some part. However, love is not only a feeling or a way. It may be a certain substance or invisible spirit sometimes. In my opinion, love appears diversely in different people’s lives, so far as to different life phases of a person. Life is a wonderful journey with your loved people and love is the most beautiful scenery of your life.
In this article, I want to talk about my understanding of love and my real experiences on love. Hope you will like my stories and they will remind you of your past with tears or smile. Now let’s begin with the original question “What’s love”.

Reflections on The Little Prince/ 金陽

Reflections on The Little Prince

Although I’ve heard of the book a long time ago, I never really pick it up and read it or even try to understand what the book is about until recently. I’m glad I have the chance to read this amazing piece of work which seems like a children’s bed time story at the first glance of its cover. Maybe I’m started to becoming like the grown-ups, always judging things from its cover with the moral standards.

Before I started to get into this book, I thought it might just be another cheap literature until some of the words really hit me hard. It’s a strange feeling, but all the sudden I felt somewhat ashamed by my ignorance. It’s funny to say but The Little Prince had officially become one of my favorites out of all the books I’ve read.

There is no fancy choice of words or sophisticated plot in this book but simple dialogues. I was impressed by how simple and understandable this book is yet it has the power to get people thinking. I think the reason why I like this book is because I can relate myself to the author and the little prince.

Sometimes I found myself caught in the middle their conversation and I would stop for a while and examine myself from the inside. I often find the satirical comments given by the little prince in a rather childish tone are sentimental, because it speaks the truth through a naïve mouth.
