Everyone want the property， Cabot treated his sons and wife baldly, he asked them work hard. Eben’ mom told him that need to get back his property. Abbie plan to have a son and Eben would not get the land. In the end, the baby was killed, and tragedy cannot be retrieved.
First reason is Abbie and Eben both want to have Cabot's farm so they need to do something to get the farm. Second reason is Abbie misumderstand what Eben says. Third reason is Eben don't express all of his thinking and they don't trust each other enough. Forth reason is it is not allowed to Eben take up with Abbie because of the relationship(they are mother and son).
Because of greed and desire. The three most important masters are at different stages. First is the Cabot . He ignores his wife and son needed and always protects his own property. Abbie was married to a man because of the suffering and torture she suffered in the past, and this man can give her a safe home. Eben heself carries the hope of his mother before he was born. This kind of hope brought him exactly the harm.
The desire of owning the farm among Eben, Abbie and Cabot cause the disaster. Everyone thinks they are the rightful owners of the farm. Because of Cabot, Eben thought that Abbie did not love him and she only wanted the farm. And to show Eben, she killed their baby to prove it. In the end, they both had nothing and so as Cabot, who lost everything and became alone as he always has been.
Cabot is too oppressive. He always wants others to listen to him, but he doesn't know everyone has their personal characteristic trait. Also, his children, Eben hates him very much. He thought Cabot was a killer who made his mom dead. But I think the reason what causes the tragedy event to happen is all the character want the land. Because of that, they usually think how to get, how to protect the land, but they don't try to live peacefully.
Everyone wants to be the owner of the farm. Abbie originally uses Eben to get a son, however, she falls in love with him deeply. She thinks her son tore them apart so she kills her son in order to make Eben believe that she loves him.
1. Paw worked Eben's mom death. 2. The desire between Eben and Abbie. They claim that they feel Maw and she says something to them to make their desire reasonable. 3. Abbie wants to replace Eben's mom. 4. The lovely farm that everyone wants to own.
It was Cabot’s fault that made the tragedy event to happen in “desire under the elms”. Gabot was really hard working, because of that, his wives didn’t like or know him. Maybe his wives just want his property. He’d already have two, but couldn’t know why they don’t like or know him. Unfortunately, he met Abbie, a woman who had a strong desire of having everything. If Cabot didn’t marry her, the tragedy won’t happen.
That is human greed and desire. Eben ignores the needs of his wife and son and blindly protects his own property. Abbie and Cabot cause desire, develop their ignorance. Finally, because of the provocation of Eben, they developed a tragedy to kill his children.

I think everyone is too greedy, they all want to get Cabot's farm and property . In order to get them, they mean to each other, and then cause the tragedy.
